I know what the company does on a very brief note, such forex trading online using various software etc. But What I wanted to know is, what the hell is a PIP! also what is there jurisdiction limitations so what services can they offer and cant etc.

Also what makes a good online forex trading account etc. I was reading the not receiving re-quotes is good etc.

A pip, depending on the currency is 1cent so when trading Cable (GBP/USD) you place a trade with a profit limit level of x number of pips - 20 pips would be 20 cents and so on.

I use Alpari for the charts on the Metatrader platform they use - which you can download for free. Their spreads are pretty good, but for tax reasons I mostly use IG Index for trading, which is a spread betting platform.

Not sure about the jurisdiction limitations you refer to - without knowing which country you are based in. If you are based in the UK there are none I know of.

What makes a good account is stability of the platform (most FX providers tend to use Metatrader so that isn’t really an issue) and speed of processing orders - you will get some slippage when the market is moving very quickly, the best way to minmise that is by using OTO orders (orders to open) that automatically trigger an order when a price reaches a certain level. Most important of course is the spread - e.g the number of pips the provider charges for entering a trade - which does vary enormously.

I am thinking of getting into forex as an investment oportunity. It looks fun and possibly profitable if I play my cards right.
I have had practice on XForex.com, but that site is so unreliable and has such bad customer service that I cannot stay with it.

What are the top two best online forex companies? I don’t mind downloading trading software, in fact it might be better. An integrated online system is alright though.

I would like the top two just in case someone who works for a forex company answers =P
Edit: I mean online companies that allow me to trade in foreign companies.

If people use identical forex softwares in trading online then no one would profit or lose because the softwares will be competing against each other. I asked the same question to one seller and the answer I got was a reduced price. It is a scam I know but I just want a second opinion out there. Thanks.

Yes, if the number of identical robots aren’t a lot. If there are only a handful of robots using algorithim X, which is very profitable, then it will continue to be profitable as long as the same number of robots using other algorithims stays the same, and the number of robots using algorithim X stays the same. If everyone learned of algorithim X, and they all decided to use it, then over time, algorithim X would become useless; it would be "arbitraged out of profitability".

The reason is that a certain algorithim will have a certain buy signal. To begin, the programmers will discover a very reliable buy signal, then write an algorithim to it, for instance, every time a currency moves up 0.5% in 3 hrs, to buy, or something like that. The robot will keep doing that, and profit, since people using other programs still believe that the currency wil keep going down, etc. However, if enough people use algorithim X, that buys at that signal, then not enough people will be selling at that same condition. Soon, this will cause the blanace of supply/demand to be thrown off kilter, and the new demand will change the actual price movement, and the algorithim will be rendered useless.

A lot of forex software are scams or plain useless; however, those which are profitable will not be profitable for long; once people realise their potential and enough people start using that robot, then it will be rendered useless once the forces of supply and demand shift because of the robot.
