Can we make a living trading forex ?

i am new in this venture and have try many ways that been teaches in books and DVD in my demo account but most of the method , i have came to feel like is not working ,can we really earn a living just by trading forex or is it all about luck ?? i mean if the method teach by all this gurus really work why they took all the time to write books or conduct seminar , wouldn’t it be much more easy if they just spend a few hours a days in forex market and make a big sum of money ??? as most of the book promote a very free style of living and making a handsome amount of money ….

You’ve already spotted the con with the whole book-writing and DVD thing. If I had a real secret or formula for trading currencies, why would I tell anyone, when I can simply sit 2 hours everyday and make US$12 million in profits. There’s no such thing as a secret or optimal trading technique, what these guys teach you is basic economics principals. Sometimes their textbook principals are flawed as well, and these guys make so little money actually trading forex, that they probably make 10 times that amount by selling books and DVDs .

Back to your question, and the answer is plain and simply: no, you cannot make a living trading forex as an individual. Some organizations do it, but they’re utilizing massive amounts of labour and technology and even they get it wrong sometimes. This whole concept about not working hard but being able to make easy money is one of the biggest scams that’s been in existence since who knows when. I personally don’t feel that you need to work "hard" either, you must work smart, save smart and spend smart.

It’s also highly speculative, you need to know the news minute by minute and you need a fundamental understanding of economics, supply and demand, finance, politics and basically every other facet of knowledge if you wish to scrape pennies trading currency.

Is Joey Miller and Traders Edge Live a scam?

I went to a recent seminar and saw some of the stock trading and forex strategies taught by Joey Miller and Traders Edge Live. It seems to be too good to be true. However, I have backtested the strategies and they seem to work very well for the past 5 years. Does anybody know if this is a scam?

I too was wondering the exact same thing when I had signed up a few years ago! So I’ll take the time to comment and hope that my experience will help you. Towards the end of 2009, I went to a Get Motivated event, and then through Investools and the James Smith Company, and found out about Joey Miller and Traders Edge Live. Eventually, I canceled Investools (thank God that they allowed me to cancel) because I found that Traders Edge Live was teaching actual, systematic strategies as opposed to just theory. I think Investools is great, but I was just looking for something that I could get started with right away.

I have since purchased all the DVDs, books on options, and attended a couple of Traders Edge Cash Flow Seminars and Advanced Summit events to further my education. I must attest that Joey Miller and Traders Edge Live is NOT a scam. They are real, genuine people. The teachers are excellent and understand the subject material as they are true traders themselves. I even signed up for a mentorship and am seriously committed to make this a part of long-term investment plan.

Having said all that, let me share with you some advice that I wish somebody would have emphasized to me when I get started.

1. Nobody can have a strategy that’s 100%. Strategies may work well in the past and continue to work in the future, but there’s absolutely no guarantee of future success. Your odds are just increased when you have a systematic strategy that has performed well in the past.

2. Take your time. Be patient and make sure learn the strategies fully, don’t skip portions and try to take shortcuts. With option trading, it’s very important that you understand the ins and outs as it’s a leveraged investment vehicle.

3. Don’t put all your eggs in one basket. I made the emotional mistake of putting too large of a trade in the beginning because I was so convinced that things would just work out forever. For the first 3-4 months, I made money so consistently that I just keep increasing my investments (even taking out money from a loan to invest). However, I was quickly humbled. So only invest with funds that you are comfortable with, and don’t try to "swing for the fence". Keep your trades small, so you can recover in case there’s a bad trade.

4. Keep learning. The more you know and understand, the better off you’ll be.

Can forex trading companies be trusted? Ie Focus Securities etc, they try to sell you software and seminars ov?

I am interested in learing to trade on the currency market but not sure where to go for my information. there are some tempting offers out there from these companies, but i don’t trust them?

It’s very difficult to know who to trust. Many of the people who sell seminars and e-books have good intentions, but it’s also very difficult to teach someone how to trade. It’s something you have to learn for yourself.

I recommend that you start by reading everything you can at your local bookstore about stocks and Forex trading. That will give you an introduction, and some ideas. Then open a free Forex demo account and start playing around. There’s also a lot of free information online which might help point you in the right direction.

There are several catches to free seminars. It’s the old adage that you don’t get "something for nothing."

Free seminars tend to be organised sale pitches for a product or services from the organisers. The aim is to try to catch you at a weak point and get you to sign up for a service or further training on the spot.

If you can get past this (take no cards or cheque books!) then they can provide some useful information however, especially if you are new to trading or have little experience.

However most of the information that you gain can be freely found on the internet, so you might as well save your time and simply have a look at some of the good free resources to be found on the internet.

Type Forex Education or Forex Learning into google and have a look at some of the results that come up as a starting point. It also might be worth investing in a reputable Trading system that you can trade in a small way, as this will probably help to ‘cut your teeth’ in the markets far better than any free seminar information or overpriced courses that they seminars will try to sell you.

Try looking at something like http://www.forextechnicalchartist.com as a starting point for information on Forex and a selection of recommended trading systems for beginners.

if you are looking for forex courses. www.forexsignal.com do a course for 30 days and cost is about 500usd.
you can find lots of free seminars online too.
you can try fxcm too they have good seminars, very cheap or maybe free too.i did em some years ago and they are very good.easy to understand too.

I have been trading for a few months and i heard about some guys in Melbourne who are teaching forex trading. i meet up with them and they are incredible guys.
The seminar is run by FX Masters who are based in Melbourne. They take people from all backgrounds to no trading knowledge at all to earning a fulltime income from trading currencies in around 6 months. They teach the basics right up to advanced trading strategies with ongoing support and coaching for as long as is required. The results these guys are achieving is incredible. Over a 21/2 lunch with Lance, I watched him trade and make a 300% profit. He has students all over the world many of whom start trading with as little as $150. They won’t let you start trading live until you are consisently achieve 80% winning trades.
Lance has an amazing story. He spent 3 years reading 8 hours a day to work out a successful trading plan. He started with $2000 and within 12 months was generating $40 000 per day. He has been trading for about 15 years.
These guys know what they are doing!
Its one of best ways to make money in the current economic climate.
The next scheduled course is in Melbourne on the 21 and 22 of March.

Can someone teach me forex?

I’m a canadian with parents originating from Haiti. I’m a part-time student in economics and have a full-time job that allow me to keep up on the daily basis. I have a basic conception of the forex market, but I want to learn more from experienced people. So far, I have used a practice account at forex.com to help me understand a little bit more. I’ve also bought a book about the forex market at Chapters. I know forex is not something that can be learned overnight, but I am willing to learn it, and hopefully make it a second income or maybe a career. Please point me to the right direction, training, conference, seminar, workshop, anything that would really get me started.
