Is it possible to make money investing in forex?

i have heard of this company "Forex" where you can invest money in currency exchange, i mean, buying currency from another countries…. does anyone have experience investing in forex or buying currency from another countries to make profit?

In everything we do, we earn money because we know how. And to learn how, you should study. more or less 95% of all new traders fail especially in the first 12 mos because they just buzz in the market without really having a no how. If you don´t have enough knowledge, it is more likely that you will lose but if you know what you’re doing and best – experienced with it, then you will most likely win! but it can never be an always win trdes but it’s nice to have a high percentage of a win over lose.

Read some magazines, online news (but beware of any scammers that only links to their affiliate sites), or watch videos from http://youtube.com (anywhere). Also, there are a lot of free demo accounts where you can try a trade exactly like a live one (but of course there are a difference between a live and a demo, and one factor is your emotions). after your demo, trial and error experience… see if you earn pips (at least 50 then you can try to go live)…

Why is everyone in India investing in Forex?

What in the world is going on over there?
Can’t people in India buy stocks with a brokerage?
Can’t they do options if they want to take a risk?
Are there commericials on TV advertising forex day in and day out?

How much money do I need to start Forex investing?

Hi im new to investing in general, and i want to try out forex. I have very little understanding of it and is only willing to start with under 100USD at the moment, just to have a feel of how volatile the investment can be. Ive been reading on some sites (fxopen) that you can start with just 1$, but based on my understanding (which isnt much) is that you need at least 100$ to get a small lot to start trading.

That means i would need to get a big leverage on my 1$ deposit to start trading right? Which means if i fail i could get into debt? Ideally i would like to start trading with 10$ if its possible, and the only risk being the loss of that 10$.

Pls kind souls of investormen, assist this young child in seeking his financial independence! Thanks in advance kind souls.

I can remember when I started Forex trading. I had the same questions as you. Well, I can say US$100 is really small if you are talking about live trading. But I wouldn’t agree with Brandon, you don’t have to go trade anywhere else. It’s all actually the same. Well, all are also the same way when you start. The best way to start is to STUDY! — learn first (and the best teacher is experience)

To give you an overview of the top currency pairs that you might want to look into when you study

1. EUR/USD – Euro/U.S. Dollar
2. GBP/USD – Great British Pound/U.S. Dollar
3. USD/CHF –- U.S. Dollar/Swiss Franc
4. USD/JPY –- U.S. Dollar/Japanese Yen

In terms of risk, it is more risky to trade in commodities and forex than in shares.

Commodities>forex>shares, in that order.

In terms of profitability, this is a bit relative in the sense that profitability is a function of your skill in correctly analysing when and how to take trades, and exactly when to take your profits off the table. The truth is that I have actually made more money in forex than in shares in the last eight years I have been actively trading.

So you need to identify your risk appetite, then assess your capabilities in knowing how to trade commodities/forex/stocks, before deciding on which one to take on. I would advise you start trading shares on a buy and hold basis, so you understand how these things work. The knowledge and experience you will gain from trading shares, will help you a lot when you decide to take on forex or commodity trading.

Like someone pointed out, with a share, you actually own a stake in something tangible, so even if the value drops, you can hold on to it until the value picks up. But in forex and commodity trading where you are basically trading on contracts which are not tangible and which are highly volatile, you can easily lose everything in an instant if you do not know what you are doing.

Forex trading risk for investing?

Ok I want to start trading on forex (small ammounts to start) and I started researching (for some time now) about how it works and I have tried various practice accounts (with great success).

But I have one question in particular. Ok lets say for example Im trading with a mini account and lets say i I invest, we will say $300 USD. Ok so if for example I Trade EUR/USD at x100 I am theoretically trading borrowed money at a factor of up to 100 times the 300 i initially invested. So my question is lets say the market drops drastically for some unexplained reason and i loose big time to where I loose all of the 300 I orriginally invested. Is it possible for me to loose more than the 300 I invested (to where I have to pay for the difference)

I know that most companies (if not all) have some sort of limit to where they automattically close the account. I just want get this cleared up in my head. I realy want to start trading but I want to know all I possibly can before I even start.

It depends on the platform and software you use.

I use Trade Fare, and on mine if I invest £100 and the market goes the other way it will use up my £100 original stake and whatever is in my balance, in accordance to the amount originally bet. But if you don’t have anything in your account balance or you lose it all, they won’t debit your account for money not there and you won’t get into the minus.

But let’s say you have £10.000 in your account your probably not going to run into trouble if you bet small amounts or keep to the suggested amount of 5% of your total.

The reason they do this is so they can make money from people and so it falls into the betting category. The upside for us is that if you buy and then the market falls you can (if you have enough in your balance) ride it out until it goes your way.

So basically, if you bet £100 and it falls below that, you will of lost your money, but no more, unless you have some in your balance.

I would beyond all reasonable doubt suggest you use demo accounts for a long time. Even if you seem to be on a lucky streak, ride it out until you can without any doubt prove to yourself that you are making the right decisions based on plausible information.

Apparently the average amount transfered into a Forex account is $40.000 and 60% of people lose all their money in the first month.

It is not true. If so, no one will be working anymore. Forex is a zero sum game that you can win 50% of the time, but lose the other 50% of the time. Granted, this is better odds than the casino, but still not worth it. Depending on the risk you take and margin you use, it is possible to double your money in a month or less, or do even better, but sooner or later you will lose it all in forex. Forex is not investing. Stocks and bonds are.
